About Michelle…

I enjoy working with children, individuals, families, and first responders.  Whether a specific life event or healing from past trauma, I believe in offering practical coping tools for my clients to utilize at home and long after they leave treatment. My ideal client is motivated and ready for change.

I am passionate about healing trauma. Trauma rewires our nervous systems, causing many symptoms related to anxiety and depression. I utilize trauma-focused modalities, including EMDR, and DBT. I also use cognitive behavioral therapy, sand tray, guided imagery, relaxation techniques, art and play therapy. However, I believe all paradigms need to be rooted in unconditional positive regard for my clients.

I am always humbled by the courage it takes to come in for the first therapy appointment. I also vividly remember what it feels like. Looking at our issues, even growth can be overwhelming and challenging. It can also be a lot of work to look at our patterns, ways of thinking, or responses, which may not be working any longer. I believe we all have the innate ability to heal, sometimes we just need some help getting there. Current studies show this through neuroplasticity, the brain’s natural ability to reorganize and make new connections.

I work authentically and utilize an integrative approach as not every modality works for every individual.  I have experience working with first responders and enjoy this population. I have completed 30 hours of advanced trauma training.  I am trained in EMDR, the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, Level 1 iRest training, Sand Tray, DBT, and Brainspotting. I have worked with children, in some capacity, for 35 years. I have also worked with victims of domestic violence and developmentally disabled populations, and I am certified as a crisis intervention advocate.

A word about online trauma therapy with Michelle…

Living with trauma symptoms can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. Online trauma therapy, utilizing EMDR and somatic techniques, offers a powerful way to process pain and find relief—all from the comfort of your home. You deserve peace in both your mind and body, and these therapies provide the tools to make that possible.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help people process traumatic memories. During an EMDR session, the therapist guides you through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones) while recalling distressing memories. This process helps your brain reprocess traumatic events, reducing their emotional impact. Thanks to advancements in teletherapy, EMDR can be performed just as effectively online. Through video conferencing, you can receive the same trauma-healing benefits as you would in person, but from the safety and comfort of your home.

Trauma also impacts the body, often showing up as muscle tension, shallow breathing, and other physical symptoms. Somatic therapy addresses these physical manifestations by helping you reconnect with your body and release stored tension. Techniques like grounding exercises, breathwork, and body awareness are seamlessly integrated into online sessions, recognizing the deep connection between mind and body in the healing process.

Online therapy offers the convenience and accessibility many clients need, especially when dealing with trauma. Being in a familiar, safe space often makes it easier to engage deeply in the therapeutic process.

You deserve relief from the weight of trauma, and online therapy brings these powerful techniques directly to you. Ready to begin your healing journey? Contact a licensed therapist today to start your virtual trauma therapy sessions.
