About Catherine…
I consider myself truly fortunate to have spent the last 16 years in a profession that aligns with so many of my passions—studying human behavior, building meaningful relationships, fostering personal well-being, and walking alongside individuals committed to health, healing, and personal growth.
My approach integrates several therapeutic models, but I firmly believe the foundation of effective therapy lies in the strength of the therapist-client relationship. Dysfunctional relationships are often at the heart of our deepest struggles. For many, healing begins by experiencing a safe, trusting connection with a therapist who offers unconditional positive regard while skillfully addressing dysfunctional patterns. Within this relationship, clients can explore core issues, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and move toward a life of abundance and peace.
I believe that each person has the capacity to heal, but trauma, grief, stress, and unhealthy coping mechanisms can cloud that inner voice. My practice is rooted in a Humanistic-Existential perspective, helping clients discover and express their personal truths. With the support of unconditional positive regard, I guide my clients in their journey toward self-discovery and healing. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, modalities that help clients shift core beliefs that may be keeping them stuck in harmful patterns.
Informed by attachment theory, trauma-focused care, differentiation, and cutting-edge neuroscience research, my work also incorporates mindfulness practices, stress management techniques, somatic approaches, and expressive arts therapies.
I am most recognized for my skills in couples therapy, and I absolutely love working with couples—especially those in high-conflict situations. It’s challenging, but incredibly rewarding work. We are inherently wired for relationships, and when our intimate partnerships are struggling, our individual well-being suffers. Thriving in our relationships is essential for overall health. Be warned: couples therapy is not easy! If you choose me as your therapist, I will push you to become a better individual and partner. Using humor, love, and evidence-based techniques from the Gottman Method and Relational Life Therapy, I will guide you through the process. I also integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Developmental Model of couple therapy to help strengthen the bond between partners.
In my personal life, I treasure spending time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. We love everything Redding and Shasta County has to offer. I also devote much of my time to spiritual pursuits and expressing my creativity in the art studio.
